One of your key responsibilities as a produce clerk is to know the products in your department. Your expert knowledge will assist customers in selecting the correct fresh beans and fresh peas for their specific needs, resulting in more sales, increased profitability, and customer loyalty. All of the fresh beans and fresh peas highlighted in this course are usually available in bulk form from produce distributors. However, some of the conventional varieties and most of the organic ones are more readily available in processed and packaged options. The highest sales volume of this category is realized by dried, frozen, or canned options.

This course has the following objectives:

• Become familiar with the top selling varieties of both conventional and organic fresh beans and fresh peas
• Learn the appearance, seasonal availability, taste profile and uses of those fresh beans and fresh peas
• Understand proper storage and handling of fresh beans and fresh peas as well as quality standards
