Peppers

Yellow, red and orange bell peppers on a white plate.
One of your key responsibilities as a produce clerk is to know the products in your department. Your expert knowledge will assist customers in selecting the correct peppers for their specific needs. Although some peppers are imported from Mexico, Canada, Spain and the Netherlands, most peppers found in supermarkets are grown domestically.
All bell peppers, as well as mini sweet peppers, are also grown in greenhouses in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Netherlands, which makes them available year-round. Organic peppers are growing in popularity and are, for the most part, available throughout the year.
This course has the following objectives:
-
Become familiar with the top selling varieties of both conventional and organic peppers
-
Learn the appearance, seasonal availability, taste profile and uses of those peppers
-
Understand proper storage and handling of peppers as well as quality standards
Course Duration: 16m
